What does the society do?

Neston Civic Society exists to protect and enhance the unique character of the town.
The Society aims to encourage civic pride and help property owners to contribute to maintaining the character of the town, when carrying out works to their property.
Obviously large developments will have a major impact, however it is the cumulative effect of many small works that can have a greater, and sometimes detrimental impact on the character of the town.

We are concerned with:

• The Local Environment
• Planning
• Architecture
• Conservation

Particular areas of concern to the society are:

• Poor choice of windows and doors, particularly in period properties where design and materials are of great importance to the style of the house.
• The impact of crude and thoughtless shop fronts and advertising along the most important roads in town.
• The use of poorly chosen building materials which do notblend in with the distinctive character of the town.

The Borough Council consult us and ask for our views.

A Newsletter is published twice yearly.

We give talks/presentations six times a year at Neston Library.

We publish a Town Trail Pamphlet.
